Skicka data

To use Data Exchange to Send Data, you must already have a RCS User ID and Password. To find out more about how to get one, see the Registrera sida.

When you use GSelector, you may only send your data to other GSelector users of the same or higher version. (If sending a single station, the recipient MUST have the SAME version). If you also have Linker enabled, the recipient does not also need to have Linker, but they will not have access to the Linker functions. Your recipient will also need permission to license the database Licensee you send them. Be sure to arrange this in advance.

Första gången du skickar data med Data Exchange öppnar systemet en webbsida med användarvillkoren för Data Exchange. Läs igenom villkoren och klicka på knappen ”JAG GODKÄNNER” längst ned om du godkänner dem.

1. To send data in GSelector, open the File menu then click Data Exchange. Click Send Database.

3. Fill in the dialog controls as described below. If you need help, press F1 in GSelector.RCS Användar-ID: your RCS UserID goes here. In some cases this is the same as your Email address. This box may already be filled in from a previous user.    Till: Type the email address of the person to whom you are sending the data. The data is not emailed to them, but a notification to pick up the database is sent when the data has been fully uploaded. The email address used here can be anyone’s email address, but only people who have GSelector will be able to use the data you send them. If you wish to specify more than one recipient, put in multiple email addresses in this box with a comma separating each one. To send the data to RCS Support in New York, enter support@rcsworks.com.

   Meddelande: (optional) This will be a text message which the email notification sent to the recipient(s) contains. Do not put your Private Password in this message.

   Privat lösenord: (valfritt men rekommenderat) Ange ett lösenord som är svårt att gissa i den här rutan. Detta krypterar din databas innan den skickas till RCS, och den förblir krypterad på RCS:s server. Mottagaren behöver det privata lösenordet för att kunna hämta databasen. Utan detta lösenord kan ingen (inte ens RCS) få tillgång till den databas du skickar utan att använda avancerade kryptografiska metoder för att knäcka lösenordet. Ge det privata lösenordet till mottagaren/mottagarna på något annat sätt än via Data Exchange (t.ex. via privat e-post, telefonsamtal osv.).    Spara på servern RCS i [ ] dagar: This control is no longer used. Your data will be available to be downloaded for seven days.

   Uppgifter som ska skickas: Choose Previous Backup to select from a list of database backups you have already made. Choose Current Data to take a fresh backup of the database (all stations) as it exists now. Choose Stations if you wish to specify which channel in your database to transmit. In this scenario, put a check next to the Station name to select it.

4. Click the Send button to being sending the data. A backup operation may commence if Stations or Current Data was selected. The software will display the progress of sending the data to RCS. Depending on your internet connection speed this will take several seconds to several minutes. The message “Succeeded” appears when the transfer is complete.
5. When your database is available on the RCS Server, an email message is sent out to each Recipient email address you specified. Depending on how busy the RCS Data Exchange server is, this may take several minutes before the email notifications are sent. There is no means to request a CC (carbon copy) of the email message, but there is no harm in including yourself as a recipient to see what the notification message says.

Mottagning av data

IMPORTANT In GSelector, receiving Data Exchange databases may OVERWRITE your existing database. It is extremely important that you back up your current database before installing another database via Data Exchange.

The email notification will indicate which version of GSelector will work with the data that was sent to you. You must be using that version of GSelector or later in order to pick up the data.

When you have received your ID via email or from our web site, follow these steps to retrieve the database:

1. In GSelector, open the File menu and select Data Exchange.
2. On the Data Exchange menu, choose Receive Database. The Receive Data dialog appears. If you need help, press F1 in GSelector.
3. I rutan ”E-postadress” ska du ange din egen e-postadress. Den måste stämma överens med den adress som avsändaren använde för att skicka databasen till dig.
4. In the Data Exchange ID box, type in the Data Exchange ID you obtained. TIP: If the Data Exchange ID is displayed on the same computer as that running GSelector, highlight the Data Exchange ID value only, then Copy the data using Ctrl-C (or Edit|Copy), then click inside the Data Exchange ID box and Paste using Ctrl-V. This process eliminates the chance you may enter the number incorrectly.
5. If the Sender used a Private Password for this database, you must enter it in the Password box.
6. Receiving new data via Data Exchange will overwrite your current GSelector database. If you wish to back up your current database first before installing the received data, leave the Backup current database to OOPS checkbox checked. Unchecking this box is not recommended.
7. Click OK to begin downloading the database. Unless you unchecked the option to back up your existing data, your current database will be backed up. The software will display the progress of retrieving the data from RCS, unzipping it and licensing it. Depending on your internet connection speed this will take several seconds to several minutes. The message “Data successfully received” appears when the transfer is complete.
8. Internetlicensieringen aktiveras automatiskt för att skapa en licens för databasen på din dator. Om licensieringen lyckas kan du börja använda data. Om så inte är fallet, kontakta RCS för att lösa eventuella licensproblem.
9. If you wish to go back to the database you had before receiving a Data Exchange item, use the GSelector Data Restore function to restore the OOPS database.
